My first commercial project!!??

Look at my attempt to render a pub. Did a lot of research to make sure it has the right atmosphere. It's not easy but I put in all I have. =)

I love to render

That day, I was trying to clear away some of my old stuff that I had stacked away for a number of years. All my previous art work finally got uncovered.

I recalled those days when I used to hate rendering. I always thought I am no good in colouring be it colour pencil, rendering pen or even paint. But, two persons actually made me like it. When I was in secondary school, I met a very demading art teacher who made sure that all our painting has to come out presentable before it is accepted as a submission. And her favourite tasks were to paint fruits and various vegetables, pails and bottles and all kinds of static displays. It was tough, until one day when she demonstrated using my piece to show me how I can use various strokes and colours to make it more real life looking. Suddenly, I decided painting may be fun. Then came along my interior design coach who taught us rendering techniques using a combination of mediums. This allowed me to create different texture on my art work. And finally I see light or should I say, colours.

Of course, it can't be done within a day. It took me years to move from my art teacher's teaching to my ID coach's and through flipping many many ID and rendering books before I can understand more about rendering. Though I'm still not an expert, but a simple piece of work wouldn't harm me anymore.

If it wasn't for them, my work would have always been like this...

However, today...

I was glad I never gave up on colours.

Finally did 'it'

In the midst of taking care of my dear little girl, I finally found time to get this page done. Pretty tough to do I would say, especially when the paper already presents itself as being so crowded. I wanted to add more details and pictures yet would still like to leave some empty spaces to show off this very pretty patterned paper. This layout was on my table for a while when finally I decided to add a little slot at the left bottom corner for me to put in more pictures and write up. Felt really happy about the finished page, as I managed to put everything I wanted about my little baby gal's arrival.

'Wat' is this?

This is a little sketch of Angkor Wat by me. Really on a piece of rough paper and the only pen I have at that point in time. At a little corner in Angkor Wat. I hope you all can see 'wat' it is just from one look.

My 'Japan' Album

Here open up this album below and you'll enter Japan. =)

I was in Japan in 2006 during winter. I have always loved the creativity of the Japanese. Just look at the details they put in in all their product packaging and industrial design. They simply made you want to buy everything home from Japan. Not only today, their traditional 'kimono' is so beautiful and elegant, decades or even centuries ago. And talking about their food...

... yummy yum yum. The Japanese sashimi is also one of my favourite food in my list. Their desserts are simply delicious. Wish I could stay there for a few years to immerse in their culture and feast in their meticulously prepared dishes. And a must try chocolate is the brand Royce from Hokkaido. Especially the bitter favour one. Simply yummylicious. The only chocolate that will make the least sweet tooth person want to open the fridge.

Hence, I tried to come up with this album of mine to remember all the wonderful things that happened in Japan. It's an 8 x 8 album. Took me a real long while to get this done up before I delivered my girl.

I brought my 'nai nai' to Australia!

Made these pages some time back. In this one, it was my first time using the border of a paper to make a framed work. Well, realised that this method really reduce the available space on your page. It's good if you really do not have a lot of things to add.

Done up this page when I discovered the beauty of flowers. That was when I was so thrilled at how flowers can really become such a great accent on my page.

'Stocking' trip

It was a fun day today. Though there was rain in the morning, but the rain decided to give way for me and my family. "Rain rain go away" worked today. That's what had been playing on my player since the little addition to our family. Got a chance to go on a scrapbook 'stocking' trip again. Well, just another word for 'shopping'.

Take a look at the papers I bought today. Why need these papers? Never had such baby collection, guess it would help to inspire me to do more for my little girl. Met my instructor Betty who promised to make a page for my little girl too. Yippie. But as she mentioned, I've got to wait. I wouldn't mind. Good stuff are worth waiting for.

Looking for more time to start on my next page!!!

My Little Princess!!!

This is the first layout that I ever did since my confinement was over. This little girl came popping out of my tummy and finally she is on my page. It's amazing now that I have to be the last person standing when everyone else ran out of ideas in trying to keep her entertained or stop her from crying. Well, I guess it just comes naturally when the little one is finally your very own.
I had always liked pink. And whenever it comes to pink, I can always think of so many other colours that can match it. Here, I did it with pink and green. I kept to this circle theme, with the circular die cut paper that matches perfectly with the polka dots. Oh, talking about polka dots. It's one of my favourite patterned paper to use. Why? It is easy to match and it is not just a boring plain cardstock.

In this piece, I tried to put in many pictures I have. Pretty difficult, as the photographs already took up a lot of space. I thought maybe I should have printed 2R photographs to avoid such a problem. On the other hand, I guess it was good to try out different ideas after all. (Sounded more like self comforting.)
The background is a transparency on an off-white cardstock. This is the only 'coloured' cardstock that I can think of to make the few pink dots on the transparency sheet stand out.
Any opinions on these layout of mine? I would love to hear from you. =)

It's my QQ! No, it's ours!!!

It's an outing to the Henderson Wave with our beloved QQ. The first layout shows my first attempt to use lace in my page. As for the second page, I attempted to come up with a colourful design unlike my usual pink and brown (my favourite). I would say it's a great step forward. Love them.

My Scrapbook

Some of the materials and tools I use for my layouts. And this is the state of my desk when I'm hard at work!!! =)
